PROTOCOL FOR FILMING AND PHOTOGRAPHY FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES

*No permission is required for visitors taking photographs for private purposes.

1. Request for photography and/or filming in the area of Biokovo Nature Park. The applicant is required to submit the request at least 20 days prior to the start of filming and/or photography. The request must include the following information:

Full name, address and contact details of the responsible natural or legal person planning the filming and/or photography

  • Reason for and aim of filming
  • Summary of the script
  • List of persons on the team (name and surname, OIB number or passport number)
  • Planned date of arrival and time of filming/photography
  • Make of vehicle and licence plates
  • Date and signature of responsible person

The request must be submitted by post at the address:

Public Institution of Biokovo Nature Park

Franjevački put 2/A,

21300 Makarska

Croatia

or by e-mail at: info@pp-biokovo.hr

2. Permit – Pursuant to the Nature Protection Act, the permit for filming and/or photographing is issued by the Public Institution Biokovo Nature Park. The permit is issued and is valid with the specified time period. The permit may be limited or shortened if the Expert services assess that the requested project timeframe is not realistic. The permit may be retracted, and filming and/or photography terminated if the applicant does not abide by the terms prescribed by the permit.

The permit is submitted by registered mail or is issued to the applicant at the nature park, whereby the applicant signs for the receipt of the permit. With this signature, the applicant accepts the stipulated terms and prescribed conditions.

3. Terms – Pursuant to Article 113 of the Nature Protection Act (OG 80/13), filming and/or photography in a nature park is permitted if it does not threaten nature and does not affect natural processes. The terms prescribed by the permit are:

  • Movement through the park is permitted exclusively when accompanied by a park ranger
  • During filming and/or photography, it is not permitted to alter nature as found in the protected area, or to move outside the marked walking trails
  • It is not permitted to pick plants, disturb animals or damage rocks
  • The permit is issued for a limited time
  • In addition to the prescribed conditions, the applicant is also required to abide by all other rules stipulated in the Nature Protection Act, and the Ordinance on the internal order of Biokovo Nature Park.

4. Rejection of applications – the Public Institution Biokovo Nature Park reserves the right to reject applications. The request is rejected with a written explanation. The main reasons why a request can be rejected are:

  • The activities and filming and/or photography methods could threaten parts of protected nature or disturb natural processes (e.g., raising constructions that could damage natural areas, use of high intensity lighting at night, etc.).
  • The aim of filming is not in line with or appropriate for Biokovo Nature Park as a protected natural area (e.g., making films or video-films or photographs for the purpose of promoting field vehicles or hunting gear, erotic content, action genre, content relating to adrenaline sports, and the promotion of visiting zones of Biokovo Natural Park that are not open to the public, etc.), and therefore could damage the reputation of the Public Institution or lead viewers to the incorrect conclusions about the primary function and importance of the protected area.
  • If it is necessary to close the visitor system in whole or in part during periods of intensive visitation due to the needs of filming and/or photography.
  • The application is not filed in a timely manner.
